Prologue

Once upon a time, there were two teams living on the planet Sweetsel. The two teams were called Candy and Snack. They lived on one HUGE piece of land called Lovenia.

Lovenia was on a smaller planet where all the land mass was formed together in one giant island or supercontinent like Pangaea on Earth.

 Lovenia was surrounded by “candy water.” Depending on where you were, Lovenia had mountains, valleys, grasslands, and candy lakes. 

One of the candy cities was called Burstaville. This city was known to be a very big city and was the capital of the Candy Land. There were two big schools here, Nerdil (the high school) and the Skittle district ( an elementary and middle school). Some streets in Candy Land were Starburst Rd., M&M Ct., and Skittle Ave. 

Meanwhile, Snack’s capital was the Puffstuff City. The schools here were Cupcake College and Goldfish District (a middle school and elementary school).  Some streets in Snack Land were Cheeto Ct., Cupcake Ave., and Goldy Rd.

Candy and Snack were always fighting about who was better. But, now they were fighting so much that they were competing for who got the prized possessions. The one Snack wanted was the Candy Crown from Team Candy. But Candy wanted the Snack Bracelet from Team Snack. Unfortunately, someone had taken over 1000 other prized possessions and so those two were the only ones left, and this made them very valuable to each side.

Chapter One

“Why awe we fighting?” said Gumnut, sounding like he had a mouthful of gum. “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah” said Emotional Cheese Puff. As they fought, they got weaker and weaker. Eventually, they thought about how powerful they could become if they worked together. That settled it: “No more fighting,” they all said.

Fast fact: the gumnut has a special body that lets him fart gum through his body, take a look!!!

Chapter Two

It was all over. No fighting, no stealing, & no bad language. “Hey!” said Emotional Cheese Puff. (Oh, sorry Emotional Cheese Puff, but that’s the truth.) Snack and Candy now lived together. Their cities merged into a big town called Yumchew City, and there were a lot of schools. Streets, apartments, schools & even friends were both Candy & Snack. Some streets were Burst Rd, Puff Ct, Chewy Ave, Snack Street, and Candy Lane.

Things seemed peaceful but, what they didn’t know was that they were too late, and their world would soon be under threat.

Ten Years Earlier, When Candy and Snack were still fighting… 

Chapter Three

Chocolate was the biggest, the smartest, and the least bad languasist. This made him a senior leader. 10 years ago he sensed that Candy and Snack were both going to die in their fighting and he needed to help them.

“That’s it. Poop.” he said one day in frustration. He had trained Candy and Snack, and he was worried it had come to this. He was very wise and he knew their petty fighting over prized possessions was a sign of betrayal of his trust and expectation of them.

Now the time had come and his friends were no use. They were in fact, happy this was happening and they were celebrating. Chocolate was stressed, & he was afraid he needed help from a god.

Chapter Four

Chocolate used his spell hoping it would work to stop the fighting: canzeo snoceo gatha!! he chanted. He couldn’t see if it had worked at first but then, “No!!!!!” He said. That was it, over, he needed “Him.” 

Chapter Five

Leaving Yumche behind, Chocolate headed on the quest to find Him across Sweetsel Valley, across the Sugar Mountain & across the Grasslands of Sweetness. He needed to find Him.

He met the Sweetness Minions & asked if they could help him. “A’no.” They said. “Sigh.” Chocolate said. He realized the journey would take years, and it did: it took ten years in the end for Chocolate to reach Him.

Chapter Six

On his journey, Chocolate went on a seven year boat ride across the candy water and finally got close to Sugar Mountain, but he still couldn’t find Him. He realized that Him was on the tallest mountain in Lovenia. The mountain was really hard to climb, so he had to find another way up.

Chapter Seven

Chocolate thought that if he used his vibrate spell, he could bounce up “susa noir cica law!!!” he chanted.

The ground started shaking and when Chocolate jumped he would get closer and closer to the mountain. Chocolate leaped and leaped and then, boing!! He jumped on the mountain!!!

Fast fact: Emotional cheese puff has 7 emotions: happy, sad, angry, depressed, fear, violence, and disgust, take a look!!! 

Meanwhile with Snack and Candy…

Chapter Eight

“Here you go,” said a checker at the store.

“Thanks.” said the customer.

 In the years that Chocolate had been gone, Snack and Candy had finally made their peace agreement, and things remained peaceful. Gumnut became a prison guard and Emotional Cheese Puff became a school clown. Hyper Candy resumed his “no life” sequence. They were not doing anything and they were b-o-r-e-d, BORED. They played games like canes and sneakers but it didn’t seem to help. They thought peace would be good but this was super boring because they were not used to this.

Meanwhile with Chocolate…

Chapter Nine

Sugar Mountain was no ordinary mountain. It was 100x taller than Olympus Mons, the giant mountain on Mars. Sugar Mountain was so massive it created its own gravity pressure. Trying to climb Sugar Mountain was like trying to swim at the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Crushing pressure weighs down on you from the above. It can’t be climbed at all without super powers.

Chapter Ten

Chocolate found a cave inside the mountain. “This is where I’ll sleep!!” he said. He went and summoned a cushion next to the indestructible campfire. He went to bed rather quickly, (granted it was 6:00 P.M.)

He looked at the stars. “They look like all the teams that were ever created.” He saw them fighting then he looked round he saw teams fighting, Candy, Snack, Fist Bump, High Five, Fruit, Vegetable, and surprisingly, Sugar, Fiber, Hand, Secret Handshake, Apple, and Him—Him and his team were fighting too—Chocolate passed out. He never thought this fighting would happen. He thought he was good, but he was wrong.

“Rawr,” Chocolate heard a sound close by. It snowed a lot on this mountain and it was an easy place for a predator to camouflage. Chocolate looked around the dark night, it was hard to tell if it was sugar cubes or snow (powdered sugar) and he didn’t know what might be hiding underneath it.

Chapter Twelve

Meet Hyper candy, the world’s fastest skittle and the Candy and Snack Competition’s winner. Always hyper, always happy, never gloomy.

Meet Hyper Snack, he’s Hyper Candy but a Snack. Famous as the world’s fastest Dorito and candy and also a Candy and Snack Competition winner. Always hyper, always happy, never gloomy.

Super Goldfish is buff, a goldfish and loves goldfish tattoos.

Super Nerd is the candy version of Super Goldfish. Super Nerd is buff, a nerd and loves tattoos.

Commander Skittle and Cupcake are two things: fighters and commanders.

Back on Sugar Mountain

Chapter Thirteen

Chocolate woke up fast, I mean fast, to see a monster greeting him. “Hewoo, dinner.” the monster said. Chocolate ran until suddenly: “I’m at the top of the mountain!” he said. Forgetting the monster, Chocolate did a victory dance when at last he finally saw Him.

Chapter Fourteen 

Him, the man himself—Sugar.

Fast fact:  the sweet devourer has one sweet tooth that triggers the sweets, take a look!!

Chapter fifteen

“Don’t even ask me for help. The answer is no” Sugar said. “In addition, I’m  in the middle of my tan.”

Chocolate sighed and turned away slowly. “Fine, I’ll go…” he said. 

Chapter sixteen

Chocolate started making his way slowly down the mountain.  Meanwhile, as Sugar got ready for bed in the tiny but cozy cabin he had summoned, he thought about Chocolate. “I wonder why he wanted my help…he wouldn’t have come all this way unless it was important.” Sugar couldn’t think of an answer so he went to sleep.

Chapter seventeen

Sugar was wise and smart, and could choose his own dream. When he fell asleep, he saw different portals—and some of them were dreams, and some of them were visions of the future.

Chapter Eighteen

That night while asleep, Sugar found a strange portal and didn’t know what it was. He went inside it to see.  Inside the portal he saw Lovenia burned down to the ground. He heard a distant sound at first that got louder: ah, ahhh, ahhhh, AHHH!” An army was coming toward him. Sugar put out his hands to stop them but they passed right through him. Sugar meditated, and when he calmed his mind he was able to leave the portal.

Chapter Nineteen

Without fully waking up, Sugar thought about what he had seen.  Sugar remembered that the previous morning he had seen the sugar minions smuggling something out behind their back. His future orb had always been by his side in the cabin, but it had been missing. Minion footsteps had been all around the pedestal. 

Chapter Twenty

Sugar fell back asleep. He saw more green, red and yellow portals. The green and red portals showed good and bad options for the future.  He entered a red portal and saw all destruction. He saw some signs in the rubble: “Sugar did not help us.” “Sugar Mountain is destroyed.” “Sugar used bad language by Emotional Cheese Puff.”

Chapter Twenty-one

Sugar tried to find a green portal (which was a happy portal) but the only one he found was a green war portal, so he went inside. He saw himself being very open and generous with his help and everybody saying, “we love you, Sugar!!”!

Down in Yumchew City

Chapter Twenty-two

Candy and Snack leaders were getting together for some star gazing. But when they looked up at the sky, they saw something they’d never seen before.

“Ith dat wike a wegethable, I mean a cometh?” asked Gumnut.

“It looks like it’s sort of red,” answered Super Skittle looking through his night vision goggles.

“weally?” said Gumnut. “I cam bawely thee it.” “Wait, I have an ectwa voithmayo.”

Fast fact:

Cooking with gumnut “ALWAYS PUT GUM.”

Chapter Twenty-three

Everyone in Yumche City had a Sweet Tablet where they got voicemail. Gumnut said, “Pway voithmayo fwom anonymous on thpweaker.”

Recording: Hello Candy and Snack. 

Super Skittle: Who are you?

Recording: We are Fruit and Vegetable

Super Skittle: What do you want?

Recording: We want to team up with you. And when we do, we will help you stay alive.

Super Skittle: Why would you help us?

Recording: We’ll do it for your planet.

Gumnut: just a coiinthadenth or a gwitth

Super Skittle: NO

Recording: Well why not?!?!

Gumnut: waith, can woo hew uth

Recording: No, of course we can’t hear you. This is just a recording.

“Uh-Oh, this doesn’t sound good.” said Super Skittle. Prepare to fire the lazer!

Chapter Twenty-four

When Fruit and Vegetable planned their trip to Lovenia, they were full-sized foods in a powerful spaceship. But after their message, Candy and Snack had shot them with the Sweet Lazer. This shrank the spaceship and everything inside it down to be Sugar Lump size. The effect was only temporary on living things, but permanent on things like meteors and spaceships.

Inside the now shrunken vessel,  it looked like an ordinary spaceship with levers and controls and buttons. Carrot and Strawberry were their leaders. Most importantly, it had vitamin pods (escape pods). They needed these because they were planning to intentionally crash on Sweetsel. 

Chapter Twenty-five

Chocolate sat again by the indestructible campfire alone on the mountain and thought,  “well, maybe I need to handle this myself.” As he sat by the fire, Chocolate received a submission from Candy and Snack: “Attention, Chocolate! Vegetable and Fruit are crash-landing on our planet! We need your help! Stand by for a video submission.” 

Chocolate was surprised to hear from Candy and Snack. He hadn’t talked to them in a longtime, and he was out of touch with what had been happening.

“pfft, that would never happen.” scoffed Chocolate.  In the submission, Chocolate saw a comet with the words “Fruit and Vegetable” carved on the side. It crashed like a fleck into Sugar Mountain. “Hmmm,” said Chocolate. “It could be a joke. Snack and Candy were always trying to prank me…”

Chapter Twenty-six

Chocolate turned away from the fire and looked down the mountain. He saw a nut bouncing toward him and knew that could only be one thing: Gumnut! Chocolate almost fainted. If gumnut was coming up Sugar Mountain, the threat must be real—

“FINE CHOCOLATE I’ll HELP YOUUUUUU” roared a voice and Sugar appeared out of the trees just as Gumnut bounced into camp. Chocolate didn’t know where to look. His head was spinning as he thought about Gumnut, the threat from the spaceship, his futuristic dream and Sugar. 

Chapter Twenty-seven

“Yay Sugar, you changed your mind!” Chocolate cried. “But Gumnut, what are you doing here? And what’s that spaceship? What is happening?”

“We talked to Fwuit and Wegetable,” said Gumnut, “wey thaid wey awe coming to help uth.” “Don’t trust them!” exclaimed Sugar. “The invasion is real.”

They heard a rustle in the snow and looked over to see a small space pod. A buzzing sound began and the pod opened as two small steps emerged from the hatch…

Chapter Twenty-eight

“We want to take over your world!” Said Carrot.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!!!!” said the Fruits and Vegetables behind him.

“Fiber, send in reinforcements.” said Strawberry.

  “Is it just me, or are they getting bigger?” Chocolate asked, pointing to the Carrot and Strawberry. 

“Ith’th the twranthformathion fpell!” cried Gumnut as the strawberry and carrot grew to be as big as Sugar Mountain. 

Chapter Twenty-nine

“Caw fow weinforfementh!” commanded Gumnut.

“No time!” said Sugar. He started chanting and waving his hands: shrinksano, slow-ee-oe, Laughta.

“I’m getting diiiiiiizyyyy” mumbled Strawberry. The fruit started to shake and shrink. “Ahh, nooo!” cried the fruit waving its arms. “I’ll get youuuu for this Sugaaarrrr!” 

As Strawberry shrank, a watch popped off his wrist, and then he disappeared.

“What the heck was tha—” Gumnut started to say but Carrot interrupted, “I will avenge!” Carrot leapt onto Sugar and started to growl at him.

“Here, Devourer. Here, boy! Good boy, good boy! Come here!” called Sugar. The Sugar Devourer had been at the top of the mountain, but in one flying leap he soared through the air and landed beside Sugar and started chewing on Carrot like a bone. It didn’t take long for the Sugar Devourer to finish off Carrot. In a minute or two he stood up proudly and gave a thumbs up as Carrot lay on the ground.

“That’th we end of wose thwo.” said Gumnut.

“Yeah, thank God.” said Sugar.

Chapter Thirty

“Gumnut, do you have your sweet tablet on you?” said Sugar.

“Wah, why?” said Gumnut.

“I want you to facetime with Candy”. (Note to the reader: keep in mind, Sugar and Chocolate don’t know they are not fighting anymore.)

“Okay” said Gumnut. Leaders from Sugar and Snack down in Yumchew answered the facetime call.

“Hello?” they said.

“Jish is shoclit!” said Chocolate. “Listen uhhhhbv, dwwrron’d fight agin”

“What are you talking about? Are you from Candy? Who is this again?

“jish is shoclit!” said Chocolate again very slowly. “Shock-o-laaaate.”

“Chocolate!” said voices coming from the sweet tablet. “We barely remember you!” Chocolate was not dizzy anymore. He explained, “What happened down there? Why are you guys together? Aren’t you fighting?”

Before they could answer, Gumnut interrupted. “No, thtocowit, we have been twying to cell you. We awen’t fighting awymoe. Woo left poo foon, but your spell worked.”

Epilogue

The inhabitants of Lovenia lived happily ever after.

Sugar and the Sugar Devourer returned to their quiet life on Sugar Mountain. Sugar became a lot more open. If somebody asked to play checkers, Sugar said “yes.” If somebody asked for a chess match, Sugar said “yes.” If the Sugar Devourer asked him if he could eat him up and spit him out, Sugar said “mmmm…I’ll think about it.” Which is better than saying “no.”  

The Sugar Devourer signed up for a competition to be the Yumchew official class clown. And he won! That big scary monster turned out to be funny, and he could do backflips while juggling!

Chocolate returned to Yumchew after his ten year  journey and spent his time chillaxing… His favorite pastime was word games. Somehow he always managed to get the letter “c” where it was easy to name lots of things: Candy River. Candy Sea. Candy Taco.” He could go on for days.

Gumnut and Emotional Cheese Puff shared the role of mayor of Yumchew. The snacks and candies continued to live in a good way.

In summary they lived happily ever after. But what they didn’t realize, was that there was a meteor that was going to be their doom!
